Hello,

I’m using CyberSyn to aggregate various YouTube channels, however I have found an issue within the resulting RSS feed [my site feed].

The ‘link’ fields within my resulting site feed items differ from the ‘link’ fields within the original YouTube feed items. For instance, the link field from an original YouTube feed resembles the following format: feature=youtube_gdata

When that YouTube feed is published through my site’s RSS feed [via CyberSyn], the link field resembles this format: Login to see this link

What I need is for the ‘link’ field to remain in the original format. Is that possible?

Thanks in advance,

I didn’t get your question. The first URL is a link to an HTML page with the embedded YouTube video. It is intended to be viewed in browsers.

The second URL is a link to the RSS feed which can be aggregated by CyberSyn or any other similar plugin.

Sorry, I hope this clarifies what I meant:

Normally, each item in a YouTube feed has a link to the HTML embeddable video [in this format: feature=youtube_gdata]

However, when a YouTube feed is parsed through CyberSyn, that item link changes to an invalid rss address [like this: Login to see this link.

My questions is: Can your plug-in be adjusted so that YouTube feeds syndicated via CyberSyn maintain their original link instead of having it changed to the invalid rss address?

What is the URL of the YouTube RSS feed you are trying to pull with CyberSyn?

I have tried various feeds and feed formats without success. Here is an example:

YouTube Channel: Login to see this link

Channel Feed [format 1]: Login to see this link

Channel Feed [format 2]: Login to see this link

I’ve just pulled the first feed (Login to see this link) is linked to feature=youtube_gdata

I can’t see any problem there. Please give me a step-by-step instruction on how to reproduce you problem.

If I analyse the original YouTube feed in Yahoo! Pipes, notice the highlighted ‘link’ result of this item:

  • guid
  • pubDateMon, 23 Apr 2012 16:07:14 +0000
  • atom:updated2012-10-17T14:13:53.000Z
  • category
  • titleDrake – Take Care ft. Rihanna
  • description
  • linkfeature=youtube_gdata
  • authorDrakeVEVO
  • y:published
  • y:id
  • y:titleDrake – Take Care ft. Rihanna

Now, if I analyse my site feed after parsing the YouTube feed through CyberSyn, notice the resulting link:

  • titleDrake – Take Care ft. Rihanna
  • linkhttp://gdata.youtube.com/feeds/base/videos/-zzP29emgpg
  • commentshttp://gdata.youtube.com/feeds/base/videos/-zzP29emgpg#comments

  • slash:comments0
  • y:published
  • y:id
  • y:titleDrake – Take Care ft. Rihanna

All I have done is syndicated the original YouTube feed through CyberSyn, then run my site feed to get this result. I need the ‘link’ field to remain the same after being parsed, but CyberSyn seems to change it during syndication.

CyberSEO does not change anything (it’s an open source product, so you can check the code by yourself). Every post in your blog’s RSS feed (Login to see this link) – just check it’s source. So the CyberSyn plugin doesn’t change the links and leave them “AS IS“.

If you want to replace the original links with anything else (say the links to video pages), you’ll need to buy the professional CyberSEO plugin which does allow to modify the syndicating content as you want (alter the links, descriptions, titles, replace the thumbnails with the appropriate embedded video etc).
