I’m currently using the Auto Tags setting in the plugin to make the meta tags for my posts, but there’s meta tags and meta descriptions in my XML feed itself, I was hoping to be able to use those tags/description instead of the plugin’s auto tags feature, but I don’t see how. When I turn off Auto Tags, it simply doesn’t import any tags.

Here’s what my web person said about it, which may offer more insight: “Currently the site is not using the Meta Description or the Title tag (instead using the Title (H1) for both the Title Tag and H1) that are being sent over in the feed.”

Here’s my feed I’m working with: Login to see this link

Not sure if necessary but here’s the webpage my feed is posted on…. Login to see this link

Any help solving this would be much appreciated!

Thanks!

There are no tags in RSS feeds. Tag is a WordPress-specific thing. WordPress uses tags for posts. The RSS specification uses categories instead. So when you import your feed and want to convert its RSS categories into the WordPress post tags, you must enable this option: Login to see this link.

Thanks a lot for your response!!!!

That solved my tags issue, thanks! Do you happen to know how to get the meta description to import from the feed?

Your feed uses a non-standard way to store post descriptions. The post descriptions are stored as <ds:metadescription> XML markup tag instead of <description>, as it specified in the RSS format specification.

Thus you need to add this line into the “Custom fields” box:
