I am trying to accomplish the following:

1. Import an article from an RSS feed.

2. Display the article as an excerpt only (3 sentences or 50 words).

3. “Read more:” link back to the original article.

4. I would prefer that only articles imported using CyberSEO be affected by these changes.

I’m sorry I’m looking to do the same thing.  Where would I place this code at exactly?  We are looking to syndicate a number of blogs into a site and want it to give an excerpt with a link back to the original article just as above.  I just for the life of me cant figure out where the coding would go.

It should be placed into the “PHP code <?php .. ?>” box in the feed settings. Here is more info about it: Login to see this link.

Can this not be done in the “free” version at all?  I can’t seem to find a php box in the post settings in this version.  I guess I will have to continue to look for other products if not.

It can’t be done with CyberSyn. I’d suggest you to look at CyberSEO or other plugins that do allow the custom PHP code execution.

The code provided by Cyberseo works but it only applies to the content. It doesn’t limit the sentences in post excerpts on the frontpage.

I can limit the excerpts with the following code, but it doesn’t apply to the content. Would you please tell me how to limit sentences in both excerpt and the content?

If you want the post excerpt and content of the same length, you can use this code:

Thank you again.

Just curious, can I make the content limit to 30 words and excerpt 25 words?

I just realized that that would be a better idea in case the picture is the 26th word, you can still generate a feature picture because it’s included in the content while avoiding double pictures in the excerpt

Do these codes still work? I don’t know if i’m doing something wrong or if they are no longer usable.

Of course they work. Nothing has changed. Please just make sure you copied them correctly. Click on “view raw code” and copy.

When I add code as instructed on post it completed messes up import

#update

I guess it was the coding or pictures not sure but I went from 50 to 450 for it to appear correctly

Still doing some testing but that was my initial issue

That’s because you are trying to shorten the HTML code. There will be a special function for that in the next release.
