Newer themes, including the default twenty-fourteen and twenty-thirteen that ship with wordpress, have a "default post format" setting under Settings > Writing where you can choose what post format you want your posts to be by default. 

I'm using a theme that has this functionality and I set it to "gallery" format. When I make a single post with Gallery Magic it works just fine. When I bulk import galleries it seems Gallery Magic ignores the default post setting and posts the images in a simple post format.

Can you look into this or add a field that allows us to pick the post format before bulk importing?

It seems that the post formats still don't show up in the drop down of the bulk import. You'll see the post formats on the right when adding a post. The menu looks like this:

And you can set your default post format under Settings -> Writing which looks like:

I see. That was "post type" and you were asked for "post format". This option is now available too since version 1.1017.
