The plugin expects a direct link to an XML feed in Atom format. This is the most correct way to add YouTube channels. We have also implemented an additional method that accepts normal links to YouTube channels in HTML format (https://www.youtube.com/@channel_name), but in the current version of the plugin, this method does not always work, because it is just a hack. That's why we recommend to use native YouTube Atom links in the following format https://www.youtube.com/feeds/videos.xml?channel_id=channel_id.
